Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation (HCCF) has announced it’s fourth year for a back-to-school initiative to provide school supplies and support other basic needs like clothing, shoes, and outerwear for students in Halton’s Catholic Community starting in September and throughout the school year.

Victoria Craig, Executive Director of HCCF, acknowledges that “Back-to-school can be particularly challenging for struggling students and their families. There is a need for basic school supplies, backpacks, cool weather clothing, shoes, and outerwear that fits growing children and technology at home that supports learning and immersive educational experiences.”

HCCF needs the community’s support to help students and families in need with their back-to-school experience and ensure that each student is starting the year on the right foot. This upcoming school year, the HCCF hopes to reach its goal of providing school supplies to students in need in Halton’s Catholic Community. On top of this, HCCF will be raising funds to support basic necessities such as clothing, shoes, food, and school experiences, not only for back-to-school but for the duration of the school year.

To make this campaign possible, HCCF has once again partnered with Halton Catholic District School Board (HDCSB) Child & Youth Counsellors (CYCs) and other community leaders and volunteers. With their help, along with the support and generosity of the Halton community, HCDSB students in need will be prepared and encouraged for the school year ahead.

The HCCF Back-to-School Campaign will begin August 19th and continue until September 30th.  During this 6-week period, we are hoping to raise $40,000 from our Halton Catholic Community through both one-time and monthly donations.

$10,000 Donation Match: Thanks to the generosity of Madelaine Stone, District Vice President at TD Halton Commercial Banking Centre, for offering up to $10,000 in donation matches. TD Halton Commercial Banking Centre will match one-time and monthly donations (pledged for the year) received during the campaign, up to $10,000 in total. If HCCF receives the full donation match, this could create a total of $20,000 to help students in need head back to school and assist them throughout the school year. Add that to our corporate partner goal ($20,000) for the campaign and we have $40,000 available to support the children in need with back to school support.

“The combination of corporate partners as donors and individual donors is really big for us,” continues Ms. Craig. “It means that we can say yes to 200 children who need backpacks filled with supplies (which on average cost about $200 per child) – making our fundraising objective more attainable and donations more manageable for our community members.

We’re very appreciative of this generosity by our matching donor – TD Halton Commercial Banking Centre. It means a great deal to our students who will benefit from this combined generosity.”

HCCF Back To School Campaign Highlights:

• Make a donation from August 19th to September 30, 2024
• Goal to provide students with much needed school supplies
• Goal to support basic necessity requirements for students in need throughout the school year
• Fundraising objective: $30,000 plus $10,000 TD Halton Commercial Banking Centre donation match = $40,000 potential
• In addition, aim to acquire 4 new corporate partners as a result of the campaign
