KIDS FEEDING KIDS – Social Impact Games Fundraiser
Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation announces new innovative fundraiser in cooperation with Xocial and HCDSB.
Halton Catholic Children’s Foundation (HCCF) has announced it’s brand new Kids Feeding Kids fundraiser in co-operation with Xocial and HCDSB. The need is greater than ever for students who are suffering financial barriers to learning. The Foundation provides school supplies, team fees, sponsor class trips and supports other basic student needs like clothing, shoes, and outerwear for students in Halton’s Catholic Community.
Victoria Craig, Executive Director of HCCF, acknowledges that “Our current economy is particularly challenging for struggling students and their families. There is a need for basic school supplies, backpacks, cool weather clothing, shoes, and outerwear that fits growing children and technology at home that supports learning and immersive educational experiences. We also support team fees for school related activities and class trips for students who otherwise would be excluded from the class activity.”
The Kids Feeding Kids fundraiser is funded primarily by generous corporate donors, but does hold a student component. Board wide, the HCDSB students are being asked to voluntarily perform acts of kindness and by doing do earn the dollars for the meals that the corporate donors have put up. Colin Duetta from Xocial says, “We have created a safe platform for students to participate in volunteer challenges and log their personal acts of competitive kindness. The platform is multifaceted and students can use this as a way to help students less fortunate, but also to build a personal social impact resume that many post secondary schools look for in the application process. Also for students that are applying for scholarships and bursaries. It even tracks their volunteer hours. The graduate expectation for any grade 12 student in Ontario us they must complete at least 40 hours of volunteer time. This tracks all that for them!”
To make this campaign possible, HCCF has once again partnered with Halton Catholic District School Board and their willingness to get involved is wonderful, states Craig.
Patrick Murphy, chair of the HCCF Board says, “This is new territory as a fundraiser for the Foundation and the results will go a long way to help so many students. I’m delighted with the support from our various partners so far!”
The Kids Feeding Kids campaign will begin February 19th and continue until March 19th. During this 4-week period, we are hoping to raise $65,000 from our Halton Catholic Community through both one-time and monthly donations. We are already 67% there with $50,000 raised to date!!
“The combination of corporate partners as donors and individual donors is really big for us,” continues Ms. Craig. “$50,000 means that we can say yes to requests for 4,200 meals for hungry students. If we could make it to $65,000 raised that would add another 1,250 meals. When kids are fed, they can focus on learning rather than their hunger.”
HCCF Kids Feeding Kids Campaign Highlights:
- Make a donation from now to March 19th, 2025
- Goal to provide students with much needed food while at school
- Fundraising objective: $65,000
- Currently sit at $50,000 raised!
- In addition, aim to acquire 3 new corporate partners as a result of the campaign
The HCCF is grateful for the tremendous amount of support shown by the HCDSB, its staff, the students and Xocial.
